The amethyst stone is set by two large flat prongs that ensure the stone is properly held and will not move. Each prong is the termination of the lateral molded decoration on each side of the ring, which gives volume to the ring design.

You will notice in the picture the height of the shank under the stone, which is pretty elevated in consequence of the size of the amethyst stone.
