Marquise ring with fine stones and diamonds in 18k gold.
Pretty and slender, this airy and shiny ring design is quite original. It presents a large fine stone cut in marquise cut, precisely, which is surrounded by numerous small brilliant cut diamonds set on the body of the ring.
The marquise ring is a classic design of French jewelry, in particular, given its history which dates back to the 18th century and the courts of the kings of France.
In short, it was Louis XV who had a ring made with a new stone cut, supposed to imitate the smile of his mistress, Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour. This new stone cut then evolved over the centuries to give the marquise cut, also called shuttle cut, as we know it today. Marquise rings are characterized by an oblong shape taking the entire upper part of the finger. Mainly used for cutting diamonds, it is also used for cutting fine stones, such as those which are set on this ring.
The main stone of this ring is 12 millimeters in length by 6 millimeters in width for a weight of approximately 1.3 carats and it is surrounded by a halo of diamonds following its contours, diamonds numbering 18 and measuring 1.6 millimeters of diameter.
You will notice the particular shape of the ring body which does not follow the circumference of the finger, being slender above the finger, while the setting of the stone has in the lower part a small plate which closes the ring in which the finger. The ring body is set with 56 small round diamonds measuring 1 millimeter in diameter.
All diamonds are brilliant cut and are G color and VS2 clarity, totaling 0.44 carat diamond weight.
This ring weighs 4.2 grams in 18k gold in size 8. Note that the 18k gold weight of your ring may vary slightly depending on your finger size. This one is available with different types of semi-precious stones, to choose from: Aquamarine, Amethyst, Peridot and Topaz.
