Artisanal Manufacturing
All the designs of platinum jewelry offered in our collection are handcrafted in our workshop. Only the cutting and faceting of the precious stones set on our rings are done by professional lapidaries and not in our jewelry workshop.
As you have certainly noticed, we do not resell junk or simple jewelry plated with fine gold and mass-produced, but we manufacture original jewelry in platinum 950 in our manufacturing workshop. This implies a lead time necessary for the manufacture of your jewelry, so much so that we detail the time required for its manufacture in the section: Handcrafted Jewelry, on the product page in question.
We master all stages of manufacturing our platinum jewelry in our jewelry workshop, from the creation of digital CAD models, the 3D printing process, the lost wax casting process, the work on the jeweler's bench of platinum, as well as the setting of our precious stones and diamonds, thus allowing us to guarantee the quality of our jewelry.
Why do we use platinum in jewelry?
Platinum is a precious metal that has only recently become known in the West and has only been popular for jewelry for a few centuries, unlike gold and silver, which have been considered precious for much longer. Platinum is used in an almost pure state in jewelry, 95% pure, it is shiny light gray when polished and it goes very well with most fine and precious stones. It is particularly appreciated for setting diamonds, given its rigidity, it allows diamonds to be safely set with fewer materials than gold, making it possible to make finer diamond jewelry than with gold.
In jewelry, platinum is characterized by:
- Platinum is a stainless metal
- Pure platinum is 11% denser than pure gold (therefore heavier)
- Platinum is hypoallergenic
- Platinum is malleable and works well on the jeweler's bench
- Platinum melts at 1768°C, so it is very difficult to melt it
- Platinum is an original choice for your jewelry
- Platinum is three times more resistant to abrasion than 18k white gold
Based on purity and durability, platinum might be the best choice of precious metal but still is the most expensive of all the precious metals.
Platinum ring price
As you may have noticed, the price of platinum jewelry is much higher than that of 18k gold jewelry. This is explained by the fact that:
- platinum is as expensive or sometimes more expensive than gold
- Platinum is used 95% pure while gold jewelry only contains 75% gold for 18-karat gold and 54% gold for 14-karat gold jewelry
- Pure platinum is 11% denser than 24-karat gold, so the weight of precious metal in platinum jewelry is greater than the weight of fine gold in the same gold jewelry.
- Platinum melts at 1768°C and requires special tools to work with it, which makes working with platinum more expensive than working with gold.
- The platinum jewelry market is more restricted than that of gold, the volume effect works against platinum jewelry
