Sterling Silver Rings for Men
Discover our collection of silver signet rings for men. Our collection of silver signet rings consists of original designs of men's rings that you won't find anywhere else. Some signet ring designs are exclusively in sterling silver (925/1000 sterling silver) and others combine silver and 18k yellow gold to create unique designs that will delight you. Among these designs, some are also available made entirely in 18-karat gold, always in our workshop, and are visible in our collection of gold signet rings for men.
All the stones offered for our men's signet rings are natural and they are sometimes cut in our workshop when necessary, particularly for fine cabochon-shaped stones. You can discover our work creating personalized silver signet rings on our blog here.
Artisanal Manufacturing
All the designs of silver rings and jewelry offered in our collection are handcrafted in our workshop. Only the cutting and faceting of the precious stones set on our rings are done by professional lapidaries and not in our jewelry workshop.
As you have certainly noticed, we do not resell junk or simple jewelry plated with fine gold and mass-produced, but we manufacture original jewelry in pure solid silver in our manufacturing workshop. This implies a lead time necessary for the manufacture of your jewelry, so much so that we detail the time required for its manufacture in the section: Handcrafted Jewelry, on the product page in question.
We master all stages of manufacturing our silver signet rings in our jewelry workshop, from the creation of digital CAD models, the 3D printing process, the lost wax casting process, the work on the jeweler's bench of sterling silver, as well as the setting of our precious stones and diamonds, thus allowing us to guarantee the quality of our jewelry.
History and meaning of signet rings
The origin of signet rings dates back to antiquity, to the beginnings of human history. 7000 years ago, in Mesopotamia (Iraq), the Sumerians were the first known civilization, they were the first to write legal texts and to sign official documents, made of clay tablets, with sculpted stone scrolls, which would soon be replaced by rings set with “intaglio” (carved stones). These seals mounted on rings, intaglio rings, are also ornamental jewelry symbols of legal and social power which would be taken up by the Egyptians, the Greeks then the Romans.
In Europe, during the Middle Ages, it was the nobles who used rings and signet rings engraved on stone or metal to affix their coat of arms. The engraving of family coats of arms, the heraldic art, developed and was once again used to sign or seal official letters or documents to authenticate their author. Historically, signet rings or signet rings are therefore a symbol of status and power in modern Western societies, a reminiscence of the noble origin of this type of ring.
The wearing of the signet ring became democratized by leaving the world of nobility and today, everyone is free to wear this type of ring for men. Although most people who are not noble do not have a family crest to engrave on their signet ring, it can be personalized in multiple ways as we detail below.
