This round silver pendant represent the Aztec flower symbol: Xochitl in Nahuatl. This kind of Aztec flower motif was a very comon representation on Aztec temples, monuments and art. This motif is associated with Xochipilli, the god of flowers, art and love.

Aztec flowers, especially five-petaled ones, were cosmological symbols representing the four cardinal directions and the center. The central oval or circle often symbolizes the navel of the universe (ombligo del mundo) which is a place of creation. The symmetry and balance in the design reflect the Aztec worldview rooted in duality and the need for balance between opposing forces. Flowers were sacred offerings in rituals.
