Aztec Jade Pendant

Aztec Sun pendant with a jade stone in sterling silver.

This pendant is an interpretation of the Aztec sun pendant glyphs you can find everywhere in the Mexico territory carved on temples. We wished to design a representative Aztec sun pendant with a modern touch as you can see.

This pendant is made of a central jade stone bezel set surrounded by Aztec symbols representing sun rays. All the border of the pendant is made with fine carved rectangles that give a special touche to the pendant.

The pendant is made in sterling silver oxidized, which allow to highlight all the details engraved showing a very precise reproduction of antique Aztec symbols. You will see the details of the flower in 3D relief as the pendant is at least 5 millimeters thick.

Meaning of the Sun for the Aztecs:

For the Aztecs, the sun was central to life and cosmology, symbolizing energy, power, and the cycle of creation and destruction. They believed the current sun, the Fifth Sun, required human sacrifices to sustain its journey across the sky and prevent the world's end. The sun also represented the god Huitzilopochtli, the warrior who fought daily against darkness, embodying the struggle for balance and the importance of human devotion.

Jade precious gemstonefor the Aztecs:

The use of Jade for this pendant is very important as jade symbolized life, fertility, and eternity. It was highly valued, even more than gold, for its association with water, maize, and the cycle of renewal. Jade represented the sacred connection between the physical and spiritual worlds, embodying purity, vitality, and the preciousness of life itself.
