This tanzanite ring is set with a cabochon-cut purple tanzanite stone, that is 6 millimeters in diameter. The design of the ring is very simple and offers a refined design highlighting the deep blue color of the natural tanzanite stone. The precious stone is bezel set on a base which is welded to the body of the ring made of twisted gold wires giving a unique style to this jewel.
Tanzanite stone is a fascinating gemstone. It is a zoist stone with a high percentage of vanadium which gives it an incomparable blue-violet color. Although it is not considered officially a precious gemstone, it is indeed priced and coveted as much as sapphires and rubies. Tanzanite was discovered in 1967 in Tanzania and shook the jewelry industry in New York with soaring prices in a matter of months.
